Description

This graphic displays 3-D cross sections of various polytwisters (including the background part). Polytwisters are the "lovechild" of polyhedra and Hopf Fibration. These amazing four dimensional shapes can roll like cylinders on many different sides!

I used POV-Ray to ray trace them. Convex polytwisters (non shown in the picture) were produced by intersecting a number of 4-D "cycloplanes" (cross product of circle and plane) and the starry ones (which are in the picture) by using stellation methods on convex ones. Cross sections of cycloplanes look like cylinders, squashed cylinders, or planar slabs depending on the angle they come into our 3-D space.
